InterContinental Brisbane will undergo a multi-million-dollar refurbishment from October 2026, with the 319-room hotel remaining open throughout the staged works.
Scheduled for completion in late 2027, the project will increase the hotel’s inventory to 324 rooms and cover guestrooms and suites, public areas, dining venues, meeting and event spaces, and wellness facilities.

The refurbishment will retain elements of the building’s modernist architecture while updating its interiors. The hotel’s atrium will be renovated, while guestrooms and suites will receive new interiors with natural stone, marble and timber finishes and mid-century-style furnishings.
Level 6 will gain a new arrival area, lobby, reception and concierge gallery. Club InterContinental will also relocate to the floor, overlooking Queen Street Mall and Edward Street.
Dining additions will comprise an Argentinian grill restaurant, an Italian pasta and wine bar, and a redesigned lobby bar.
The refurbishment will also cover the hotel’s gym, spa and wellness facilities and pool deck. Meeting and event spaces will be updated as part of the project.
The hotel will continue operating during the renovation, which is expected to be completed in time for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
