Singapore Cruise Centre opens new HarbourFront terminal

Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) has officially unveiled its new HarbourFront terminal following a 24-month development and testing period, adding automated passenger and baggage processing for regional ferry and cruise operations.

The terminal, which began full operations on July 15, 2026, has handled more than 720,000 ferry and cruise passengers. Located about 70m from the former facility, it serves an average of 73 ferry departures daily and more than 100 cruise calls annually.

A new passenger departure control system, developed with travel technology company Sqiva, integrates ferry and cruise operations through SCC’s Cruise and Ferry Operating System. The platform connects check-in, baggage processing and boarding, and is integrated with an automated baggage handling system providing real-time tracking.

Eligible ferry passengers who purchase tickets online can validate passports, check in and obtain boarding passes and baggage tags through self-service facilities in under a minute. Six self-service baggage-drop machines and six automated boarding gates are available, while 46 automated immigration clearance lanes support passport-less clearance using facial biometrics.

The terminal has also consolidated ferry operators on one level, while passenger waiting areas are about 50 per cent larger than at the former facility. Cruise facilities include kerbside baggage drop, 12 coach bays and a 70-seat VIP lounge.

On August 8, the terminal processed 18,000 departing passengers in a single day.

SCC is also trialling the Maritime Digital Twin with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore to improve planning for vessel movements, berthing and terminal resources.

“This new terminal is more than a move to a new building. It gives us the opportunity to rethink how ferry and cruise journeys are managed from end to end,” said SCC CEO Jacqueline Tan. “By connecting systems that previously operated separately, we can make the journey simpler for passengers while giving our teams better visibility across operations.”
