The Anam Foundation has introduced Anam Green Life, a long-term community initiative committing one billion dong (US$39,500) annually to plant trees across Vietnam.
Unlike carbon-offset projects, the programme focuses on social impact by adding greenery to schools, public spaces, and neighbourhoods with limited shade. The initial phase will target communities surrounding The Anam Cam Ranh and The Anam Mui Ne before expanding to other regions.
Founded by The Anam Group chairman Pham Van Hien, the foundation receives a percentage of the resort group’s annual profits to fund environmental projects, community development, disaster relief, and welfare programmes. Existing environmental practices across the group’s properties include solar power generation, rainwater harvesting systems, and the elimination of single-use plastics.
The greening programme follows the foundation’s recent housing contributions in Cam Lam, near Cam Ranh, where it funded the renovation of a home for a vulnerable resident and the construction of a new dwelling for a widowed employee raising four children.
Hien shared: “Nature has always been at the heart of The Anam. Through this initiative we want to extend that philosophy beyond our resorts and into the communities around us.
“We won’t be simply planting trees wherever space is available. We want to, rather, plant them where they will genuinely improve people’s daily lives; whether that’s providing shade for children in a school playground, creating cooler public spaces or helping make neighbourhoods healthier and more attractive.
“Whether we’re helping a family have a safe place to call home or planting trees that will provide lasting benefits for entire communities, our goal is the same – to create impactful change. These initiatives are driven by our vision of supporting people and their communities as well as caring for the environment.”
