Hoshino Resorts’ KAI to open second property in Hokkaido

Hot spring ryokan brand KAI, operated by Hoshino Resorts, will open its second property in Hokkaido by 2026.

KAI Teshikaga will be located at Kawayu Onsen in Teshikaga, home to Lake Mashu as well as Japan’s largest caldera lake, Lake Kussharo. The entire region is known as the Akan Mashu National Park which is mostly protected as a nature conservation area.

Opening in 2026, KAI Teshikaga will be developed simultaneously as the Akan Mashu National Park Kawayu Onsen Town Development Master Plan

The resort will be an establishment to be developed simultaneously as the Akan Mashu National Park Kawayu Onsen Town Development Master Plan.

KAI Teshikaga will be a continuation of the KAI brand’s vision, following KAI Poroto, of embracing the surrounding nature of a hot spring ryokan as they aim to weave the natural beauty of Teshikaga into every aspect of their hospitality.
