Top News TAT’s new Phuket commercial rides on star power By TTG Asia / Posted on 17 June, 2021 10:14 A new marketing campaign to promote the reopening of Phuket for tourism has placed strong emphasis on sports tourism, with some of the most memorable aspects of the destination being told through the eyes of three Leicester City FA Cup 2021 winners – James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho. Backed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with the King Power International Group, the Phuket is Now Open campaign comes under the theme, Amazing Thailand, Now even more Amazing. The Amazing Moments in Phuket video commercial highlights Phuket’s sporty side through the eyes of three Leicester City FC players Tanes Petsuwan, TAT deputy governor for marketing communications, said: “The campaign forms part of the Royal Thai Government’s efforts to prepare the island (for) fully vaccinated visitors under the Phuket Sandbox model from 1 July, 2021.” Fronting the campaign is a video commercial titled, Amazing Moments in Phuket. While sharing memorable experiences that await all visitors in Phuket through the three Leicester City FC players, the commercial also highlights sporting activities available in the destination, such as scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing, sailing, parachuting and triathlon, as well as natural attractions, the local old town and Thai cuisine. The video commercial began distribution on global channels and publicity channels of King Power, Leicester City FC, and Dug Out on June 16.
