Europamundo ventures into SE Asia, appoints GSA

EUROPAMUNDO Vacations, a major tour operator in the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world, has recently expanded its footprint in South-east Asia with general sales agents (GSA) appointed in the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.

Of Europamundo’s appointment of Sri Sutra Travel as its Malaysian distributor, Steven Pearson, regional sales manager for South-east Asia, said: “We share a similar idea (of) using technology to drive our companies forward.”

Syed Razif Al-Yahya, group managing director of Sri Sutra Travel, said: “The immediate focus will be on creating awareness of the Europamundo brand and services in Malaysia. Roadshows have been planned to various states in Malaysia to brief travel agents on the products and services.”

Agents, in turn, can start selling to consumers and earn commissions from the sales.

A company of the JTB Group and an affiliated member of the UNWTO, Europamundo will also start running year-round coach tours in English this April.

Syed Razif believes the coach tours will appeal to Malaysian travellers visiting Europe, the US, Mexico and Costa Rica, as this product is affordable and offers customers the flexibility to join trips at any point on the rotating tour, and also to pick a sector and not buy the entire tour.
