City Tours offers ticketless way to see Singapore

SINGAPORE’s City Tours has soft-launched CityTixs, a more convenient B2C model to save on attractions, rides, transportation and coach tours, following its pre-bundled physical card product introduced in August last year.

According to Wendy Leong, general manager, City Tours, the new model that is a first in Singapore, offers travellers more opportunities to customise and save on various attractions and services.

She added that City Tours is targeting to fully launch the patented product in December.

Travellers who book on www.citytixs.com are issued a secure, 12-digit city code for every product purchased.

The first four digits of the code form a pin number that corresponds to a credit card or ID belonging to the traveller. The pin number will then be entered into special keypads at the attractions to verify authenticity.

CityTixs customers can enjoy up to 12 per cent discount on entrance fees at attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore theme park, Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park, Captain Explorer DUKW Tours, as well as tours that take visitors around the Marina Bay.

Some 15 attractions are on CityTixs’ menu now, and more tourism suppliers are expected to come onboard soon.

In the next two weeks, CityTixs will include meal bookings, which Leong predicts will be a popular draw, and eventually, shopping.

“We expect other competitors to follow suit,” Leong said, when asked if she thought the venture would be copied. “But our advantage is that we are always the first to market.”

Compared to the current City Tours card pass concept, CityTixs does not require the traveller to claim the physical card at specific pickup points in Singapore after placing orders online.
