Dusit in Europe Print E-mail

By Ollie Quiniquini

BERLIN Dusit International is working on five projects in Europe that will bring the famed Thai hospitality to the continent.

The chain’s chief executive Chanin Donavanik said expansion into Europe would be flexible – either management contracts, partnerships or equities.

Dusit will plant its flag in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Munich, with the latter being a “one-of-a-kind” property in a new inner city development, said Andreas Ullstein, who leads the chain’s development in Europe.

“The Thai brand is very well known. Right now, hotels in Europe are either very European or very American,” said Chanin, adding that having a continental presence would help build brand recognition for Dusit’s other properties among Europeans.

Of the first five projects, all carrying the Dusit Thani brand, three are new properties and two, existing hotels. Ullstein said the chain would first build its Dusit Thani and Devarana brands and keep hotel size to 200 keys.
